Tech Blast: Latest Microsoft Office Version in Testing Sunday, January 01, 2006 Latest Microsoft Office Version in Testing Microsoft Office 12 Now in Beta Testing In the middle of November, Microsoft released the first run of Microsoft Office 12 (to be released as Office 2007) for beta testing. The first test version went out to 10,000 testers and there is a large test scheduled for spring 2006. Office 12 will be the most important revision in over a decade, offering default XML file formats and a major over hull to the user interface. Gone are the dropdown menus and toolbars, replaced with Microsoft's latest stab at an intuitive user interface. The UI features a set of tabs that Microsoft calls the "ribbon", which displays key elements relative to which office product the end user is work with. Most seasoned MS Office aficionados will cringe at the new interface, but once use to it, all will probably agree the change was worth while. The final version of Office 12 is planned for release in the second half of 2006, when Microsoft offers incentives for Office and other Microsoft software products via https://www.microsoftincentives.com/.
